I'm not sure if I would call it "sad", but I did find the scene between Lionel and Lex, in which Lex's reveals how his mother had killed Julian, quite moving. I think it was the performance they gave was what made it quite powerful, especially in that moment when you see Lionel's regret and then you see how desperate he is to embrace his son; and then as Lex says "No, dad" and walks away.
i reckon it was really sad when Alisha (Clarks ex-girlfriend) died...it musta been really hard & also the last thing he said 2 her was accusing her of attacking Lana & Jason
I have to agree with everyone who replied with Jonathan's death. That was a shock, but I think that it was meant to happen - what with his heart problems and all.

when Lana "died" in season 5, oh my gosh, I was devastated, I mean i knew she couldn't really die because I'd seen bits and pieces of other episodes but oh my gosh, that whole episode was brutal. I burst into tears when Lana "died" and then they bought her back then Johnathon died! oh dear... i often wonder why i put myself through watching it all the time haha :p but i guess emotion is what makes for good television! Jerry Springer has nothing on Smallville!
