Tom and Kristin on until Season 8

John Glover was interviewed by TV Guide's Michael Ausiello yesterday at The CW 2007 Upfront events. When asked about the series going beyond a 7th season, this is what John responded with: "I don't know, some people say 8 years. I think Tom and Kristin have two more years on their contracts...so donno."

The "donno" bit isn't very comforting. furious

No one dies and everyone comes back in season 7 except AO (Martha Kent) since she moves to D.C. she might guest star in a few episodes. AA (Jimmy Olsen) becomes a regular and most likely goes into the opening credits. Note that all the characters for season 7 are mentioned below except AO (Martha Kent).

Returning for its seventh season, this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series. Fourteen years ago, a meteor shower burst from the heavens, raining destruction on the unsuspecting citizens of Smallville, Kansas. From the ashes of tragedy, emerged Clark Kent. Struggling to come to grips with his emerging superpowers, while battling the strange events that have plagued this idyllic Midwest hamlet since the meteor shower, Clark slowly learns to embrace his destiny. SMALLVILLE chronicles Clark's journey toward becoming the Man of Steel and his relationships with girl-next-door Lana Lang, future love Lois Lane and soon-to-be arch-nemesis Lex Luthor.

The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Kristin Kreuk as Lana Lang, Michael Rosenbaum as Lex Luthor, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Allison Mack as Chloe Sullivan, John Glover as Lionel Luther and Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen. Reinterpreting the Superman mythology from its roots, SMALLVILLE was developed for television by Alfred Gough & Miles Millar ("Shanghai Noon," "Spiderman 2"), based on the DC Comics characters. Gough and Millar serve as executive producers, along with Ken Horton, Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola, Kelly Souders & Brian Peterson and Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer. The series is produced by Tollin/Robbins Productions, Millar/Gough Ink and Warner Bros. Television. Superman was created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Schuster.

Info from the official CW Fall 2007 schedule.

^ Awesome.

Lana Langs' death was very anti-climatic -- obviously she's not really dead. If she *was* gonna die her passing would've been done more emotionally and heart renching. And what a coincidence that white van drives along and blocks our view? I'm hoping the JLA helped her fake her death.

And Chloe is back for sure. One of the producers have said they plan to explore Chloe's power more in season 7, so obviously she's back.

Martha's speeches will be missed biggrin.gif

I hope they treat Season 7 like it's the last season -- what I mean is for them to keep the filler episodes to a minimum and have every single episode be amazing and important.

Bring on Season 7!

ok so this is from kryptonsite website, just a confirmation.

UPDATED 5/27/07: Mike Ausiello of TV Guide spoke to both Erica Durance and John Glover at the 2007 CW Upfronts. Among the things revealed: Chloe WILL survive her whole "pass out after saving Lois" ordeal, according to Erica... and Glover confirms that Annette O'Toole will not be back as a series regular for Season 7.

thats kind of cool, that chloe isnt really dead, and have you all seen the season six cover for the dvds, its so awsome, poor clark, alone for life.

^ Cool stuff Sv.

Here's more speculation..

Supergirl in Smallville?

From TVGuide.com

Look, up in the sky: Its a bird Its a plane Its Supergirl?!

When Smallville returns for its seventh season this fall it will be revealed that Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is not the only member of his family to survive the destruction of the planet Krypton. His cousin Kara was sent to Earth in a ship that arrived at the same time as baby Kal-Els, reveals executive producer Al Gough, referring to Clark by his Kryptonian name. But there was a problem and shes been in suspended animation for the last 16 years. Well find out in the season premiere that the big dam break in last seasons finale is the reason shes finally awoken.

Gough says this latest visitor from the DC Comics universe will help Clark get in touch with his Kryptonian roots. With his [adopted] father dead and his [adopted] mother moved to Washington [to become a U.S. Senator], and Lana blown up, suddenly theres some family in his life.

Like her cousin, Kara will have enhanced physical abilities generated by Earths yellow sun. She has all of Clarks powers and a couple he doesnt have yet, Gough teases. She can fly. And her response when Clark asks why is obviously girls mature faster than boys.

Kara, a teenager when Krypton exploded, was sent to Earth by her father, Zor-El (Kal-Els uncle), to look after her younger cousin. But while in suspended animation she didnt age and now its Clark who must be the mentor. She becomes enamored with our culture: clothes and iPods and stuff, Gough says. Well have a lot of fun as she gets acclimated.

Kara makes her debut in the season premiere of the CW drama and will appear in about half of this seasons episodes. A casting notice is set to go out shortly, and producers hope to unveil their new addition at Julys Comic-Con International in San Diego. Rich Sands

And here's what they're looking for:

"SUPERGIRL" (Kara) - 19 years old, Caucasian, blonds preferred, or willing to dye hair blond. Beautiful, smart and funny. She is Clark's cousin. She was born on Krypton and is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-El's brother. Kara possesses all of Clark's power and one he doesn't yet have - she can FLY! Kara also has a strong, rebellious streak which puts her at odds with Clark, and puts her into Lex's radar. This is a 7/13 Series Regular role.

This sounds awesome, I'm all up for it.

From E!

Helen in Tampa, Florida: Smallville! Smallville! Smallville!
Aye Aye, Captain! I've just been told that The Daily Planet is getting a new editor in chief named Greg. We'll be seeing quite a bit of him early in the season, and surprise, surprise, he's going to be the sexy, smart type.

Jeff from Concord, California: Any news on the seventh season of Smallville?
It has just been announced that Kara, aka Supergirl, will be joining the cast for the seventh season. Kara, who is Clark's cousin, will have all of Clark's powers and will be able to fly. Kara will also be a potential love interest for Jimmy Olsen.

Love interest for Jimmy? Interesting...

What about Chloe?

Exclusive Breaking News: ALFRED GOUGH SPEAKS ABOUT SUPERGIRL ON 'SMALLVILLE' - SEASON 7

Plus, the co-creator reveals plans to bring original Supergirl herself -- Helen Slater -- on to the show some time next season

LOCATION: Smallville

THE SKINNY: When iF got the word that Supergirl is going to be a part of Season Seven of SMALLVILLE, we couldnt wait to find out more from co-creator and executive producer Alfred Gough.

Today he gave us a glimpse into what having Supergirl on the CW series will mean and that also includes the revelation of an appearance by the 1984 Supergirl herself Helen Slater.

In the Seventh Season premiere, Supergirl (whose name is Kara) will arrive. Shes Clark Kents 19-year old cousin and was born on Krypton. She is the daughter of Zor-El, Jor-Els brother and she possesses all of Clarks powers and one he doesnt have yet the ability to fly. Shes also a bit rebellious and that puts her at odds with Clark and on the radar of Lex (Michael Rosenbaum). Jimmy Olsen (Aaron Ashmore) will also be a romantic interest.

iF MAGAZINE: The original SUPERGIRL movie was derided by fans and is still ripped apart to this day. What do you think the key is to making the character work within the SMALLVILLE universe without carrying over the movie stigma?

ALFRED GOUGH: I think that the film was so long ago, and so forgettable, that most people have done just that. Our interest in Supergirl stems from her recent resurgence in comics especially the work done by our old pal Jeph Loeb.

iF: With Clark it's a no flight, no tights rule. For Supergirl, she's going to fly, but are you giving here the "no tights" rule too?

GOUGH: Kara will have flights, but no tights

iF: Will Supergirl be learning her powers like Clark did during the season or will she be more advanced when we meet her than Clark and serve as sort of a mirror to Clark's evolution?

GOUGH: Kara will be more advanced, although there will be powers that Clark teaches her about and vice versa -- perhaps Clark will even attempt "flying lessons."

iF: Will we be seeing a Helen Slater cameo by any chance?

GOUGH: Our plan is to have Helen on the show sometime this season, although when, how and who she would play are still up in the air.

iF: Since Jeannot Szwarc helmed the original SUPERGIRL movie and has directed many SMALLVILLE episodes, any plans for having him direct the first episode of Supergirl's appearance?

GOUGH: Jeannot, unfortunately, was all booked up on other shows by the time we got the official Season 7 pick-up, so he won't be back this season.

iF: How will Bizarro fit into all of this and will the character have a season-long arc?

GOUGH: You are just gonna have to wait and see about Bizarro like everybody else, but I'll tell you one thing, he won't be completely vanquished in the season opener like Zod was.

More:

From this week's Ask Ausiello:

Question: Any news on the type of person (age, looks, etc) the CW wants for Supergirl on Smallville? Nicole

Ausiello: KryptonSite has a detailed casting breakdown, but basically they're looking for an actress who has blonde hair and can pass for 19. Also and you didn't hear this from me the hope is that Supergirl will eventually be spun off into her own CW show. But again, you didn't hear that from me.

Question: Is there any truth to the rumor that Smallville is trying to get Kristen Bell to play Supergirl? Jason

Ausiello: That sounds suspiciously like the sort of baseless rumor I'd start. As awesome as that would be, there's no way KB would take a supporting role at this stage of her career. And, really, who can blame her? The girl's on fire!

Question:Any news on who'll play the new editor of the "Daily Planet" on Smallville (Ausiello Report 6/4)? Justin

Ausiello: I'll tell you who won't be playing him: the erstwhile Clark Kent Dean Cain. "Interestingly, we want to have Dean on the show this year, but I doubt it's going to be in this role," exec producer Al Gough told my colleague Rich Sands. "We had thought about it, but I don't think we can make that work for a number of reasons, none of which, by the way, are creative. It's scheduling, financial, things like that. But the plan is to have Dean Cain on the show this year." So who is Gough eyeing to play the "Planet" boss? "We'd love to stunt-cast it with a great person, and we're going to audition for that."

Haha don't stop reading this thread, we all need to talk about something during the break. wink

Can't wait til' we get some Kristin/Lana and Allison/Chloe news. evileye

What about Bizarro?

And in reference to the Supergirl addition, I think it'll be really cool to have Lana as Kara's mentor -- teaching her how to be a 'woman' on earth. I mean c'mon, Clark knows zilch about -that time of the month- stuff. Do Kryptonians even have that issue? lol

Kara: So what should I wear today Clark? What colour lipstick??

Clark: Uhh.... LANA!!

SMALLVILLE AT COMIC-CON

The actress who will be playing Kara/Supergirl in the seventh season of Smallville will be introduced at Comic-Con International in San Diego, The Continuum has learned.
It is unclear exactly how many cast members or creators will be at the convention, but it figures to be Smallville's biggest presence at the show since Erica Durance was introduced as Lois Lane.

Can't wait.

Anyone going to San Diego soon? biggrin

http://www.tvguide.com/news/john-glover-smallville/070621-02

TVGuide.com: Now that Martha Kent is off to Washington, D.C., what will happen to the flirtation you two had going?
Glover: I'm going to miss Martha! There's nothing to be done... unless I write her a love letter. I don't know if they'll deal with it on the show but [Annette O'Toole's] contract's up and I don't think she's coming back. [A Smallville spokesperson tells TVGuide.com that O'Toole will "be back for a few appearances" this season.]

TVGuide.com: Lionel seems to be indulging his good side, protecting Clark. Is he turning over a new leaf?
Glover: Not completely. Remember, how many fathers out there have given their son shock treatment and insist it's for his own good? [Laughs]? As long as Lionel stays interesting. The [writers] attempted to make him good before, but it didnt work. That's one of the challenges of Smallville. I don't think they thought it would be on this long. They kind of planned on four years, the high-school years.

How dare he say the Supergirl movie is forgettable?!!! I LOVED IT!!!!! Well I was a kid at the time...still!!! lol

I'm just glad I still have Rosey for until the end of the season. And it's cool that Justin will be returning as well for some episodes as The Green Arrow again, that's going to rock :)

Negotiating this late? I want me some Lana.

Yeah, it's good Martha will be back, even if it's just for an episode or two. And the whole Lionel being evil/good really confuses me. He's the heroin in one episode, the next he's the bad guy. evileye

Maybe he was referring to the younger audience. I personally didn't know there was a SuperGirl movie until my dad bought it for me.

Michael's departure will be huge. I hope the writers have something awesome in store for him.

Oliver Queen was pretty cool.

Wow, it's been a while since I've bought the magazine.

I think Chloe definitley lives. I mean, it is AlMiles' creation. They love that character too much.

So don't fret, she'll be back wink

I can't wait for Season 7! I agree, not having Lex, and even not having either of Clark's parents anymore is going to be very different. I spent this past weekend going through Season 1 and 2 on dvd....it's so amazing how much the show has changed since back then. Crazy but good :)
