Look s like Superman: The Man of Steel will not be out until July 2010 and possibly going up against Spidy 4. It has had to find new script writers.
Justice League seems to be doomed as Australia will not give it a tax break, this is another problem in a long line so maybe JL will not get made if it keeps coming up against it.
It's a pitty Superman: The Man of Steel has been pushed back to 2010, but as long as it is still released i'm happy! JL will most likely still be filmed in Sydney, even if they don't get a tax break. Also some of the original sets are still in storage there. They know it's not worth shipping or rebuilding them - that would really blow out their budget!
The JLA movie, now officially given the name Justice League is Mortal is still slated to be released next year, most likely during December.
Kieran and Michele Mulroney have apparently finished the script. Meanwhile George Miller has been working on pre-production in Australia since the end of Feburary, which may mean that concerns about taxes have been smoothed out.
The cast have been asked to increase their training so they are in peak condition around July When its rumored filming will begin in Sydney.
The Cast: Adam Brody The Flash Megan Gale Wonder Woman Common (AKA: Lonnie Rashid Lynn) Green Lantern Donald Cotrona Superman Teresa Palmer Talia Al Ghul Arnie Hammer Jr. Batman
As im sure most of you know Singer has promised much more action and villains. This is good news for those thirsting for such things from the first film.
The good folks over at FilmIck have come up with some details about Man of Steel that are pretty interesting. BE WARNED, THESE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED SPOILERS. IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW ANYTHING, STOP READING NOW!
1) Theres a new Kryptonian character coming to Earth as a result of Supes pilgrimage to Krypton that took place before Returns.
2) Lex makes a deal with a new villain in order to have Superman eradicated. This villain double crosses Lex and takes over Lexcorp (sounds like Brainiac).
3) Jason plays a key part in the plot to trap Superman (this was obviously going to happen at some point)
For those of you that havent heard the news, a judge has ruled that Time Warner are no longer the sole proprietors of the Superman franchise - with the heirs of co-creator Jerome Siegel having an entitlement to the share of the US copyright. The copyright covers only a portion of the Superman creation - that being the fundamental elements - the costume, Clark Kent, Lois Lane.
In short, this means that Time Warner may now be liable, pending a court appeal, to pay out for Superman Returns. This ruling may also lead the Shusters to follow suit (the other half of the Superman creation team) and claim another large portion of the copyright. Ultimately it all puts the future of The Man of Steel into jeopardy, not to mention the already troubled Justice League film.
Yeah, Superman originally believed Jason (the kid who threw the piano) was Lois Lane and Richard White's son, until Lois told him Jason was his when he was in hospital. Thats why Superman visits Jason while he's sleeping and gives him the father, son speach at the end.
ok cool.... But why's he have to die?????? He's a born SUPERBOY!?!?!?!?!?!
Many of the original comic book fans dislike the character because he was never developed in the comics (to my knowledge). They believe that Singer's Superman is now, to put it simply, a tied down wuss.
I think the addition of a son adds an interesting element which will allow future films to expand and move in a new direction. Finally Superman will have a significant personal threat, not one that will harm him physically, but emotionally.
A nice change from circling around the same old storyline of Lois and Clarks unrequited love, whilst Lex does something sadistic to threaten the world (That was getting a bit tedious).
What do you guys think? Was including Jason a good idea or did Brian Singer make a fatal mistake?
IF THEY KILL JASON OFF THAT'S BRIAN SINGER'S FATAL MISTAKE!!!!!!!
HE DOES RELISE THAT I WILL TRACK HIM DOWN AND HAVE TO KILL HIM IF JASON DIES!!!!!
Hahaha if something happens to Brian Singer we will know who did it! I think having Jason around is going to be interesting. However, I can understand the need to get rid of him at some point. You can't exactly have two Supermen flying around now can you?
As you know JL was put on hold due to Australia refusing to give the film tax breaks and concerns about the script (originally written by Kieran and Michele Mulroney, later rewritten by George Miller). However Warner Bros. are now thinking of restarting production in June/July 2009 in an effort to capitalise on the current popularity of comic book driven movies.
It looks like Justice League is Mortal is being planned for a 2011 release, with scrip re-writes and pre production expected to start in July 2009. However this may change as the studio is determined to produce Wonder Woman before JL. The studio wants to produce Wonder Woman to see if the general movie going public is still keen on going to see a comic book driven flick, after being inundated with films such as The Incredible Hulk, Transformers 2, Iron Man 2, Wolverine etc. The studio is also going to use the success or failure of Wonder Woman to determine if they should produce individual films based on selected characters instead. If all goes well with Wonder Woman expect JL to be out soon after along with all the other individual character spin off films, much like what is currently happening with the X-Men franchise.
It seems there is a bit of hope of JL with Megan Gale says she is still locked into it and they are still trying to find a place to film it... along with what Tollie has posted
Its official, there wont be a sequel to Superman Returns instead, itll be a reboot.
Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has stated that the studio plans to have the caped man go darker on us right along with other superheroes.
Superman didnt quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to, says Mr. Robinov. It didnt position the character the way he needed to be positioned. Had Superman worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009, but now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman Were going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it.
At this stage it looks like Brian Singer is out and Mark Milller's 'Superman for the 21st century' is in. Rumors claim the studio intends to make Superman more like an angry god. Im not sure how well this concept will translate into the world of loyal and moral Superman - It sounds more like the theme for the Dark knight reinvented. Lets just hope the formula works with DC's golden boy.
